Pet insurance

Pet insurance is the best way to give you peace of mind as a pet owner. It’s impossible to predict when a pet may become ill, have an accident or need surgery. Talk to us about options.

Grief counselling

Losing a pet can be devastating. Our pets are family members and the grieving process can be very difficult following the death of a treasured companion animal.

Our vets are happy to speak with you at any time. It can especially be helpful to talk if your pet has an advanced illness or is getting old and frail and you are concerned about the difficult decisions ahead.

If you feel you need support and help after the loss of a pet, you might find the following information and links useful:

Dr David Foote is a veterinarian, counsellor and educator whose fields of special interest include pet bereavement and stress management. David offers bereavement counselling for pet owners at his website.

Dr Katrina Warren established a website, Our Wonderful Pets, to honour her much-loved dog Toby and cat Milly. The site provides information for people suffering after losing a pet.

Cremation service

CVH can organise cremation of your pet and return of the ashes. Please ring us on (02) 4832 1977 for more information.

Advance DNA mixed breed identification test

Want to find out which breeds are lurking in your pooch’s mystery background? We can now help you discover the ancestry of your mixed-breed dog through a simple blood test. The ADVANCE Mixed Breed DNA Identification Test can test for more than 200 breeds, and deliver you a report that reveals your dog's genetic background, breed related behavioural characteristics, adult size/weight prediction, recommended nutrition program and a pre-screening for breed-related genetic diseases. Read more here at the Advance website.

Genetic testing

If you’re interested in screening your pet for genetic heritable disease, we can organise testing. Inherited disease affects mixed breed as well as purebred pets, and the tests screen for a wide range of common inherited disorders seen in dogs and cats.
